What a week!

Oh. My. Goodness! I am so glad another week has come because last week sucked big time!!! I did a terrible job at keeping with my goals and that "special friend" came to visit which is never any fun.

I was going through my video for last monday and it was close to 20 minutes long.. that's WAY too long for ME to watch much less everyone else. I know your time is precious so I opted out on last week's video. I need to find a faster way to talk about everything I want to talk about.

Anywho, how are you all doing? Are you making any improvements on goals? Did you accomplish what you set out to do last week? I would love to hear what worked and didn't because I need a little pick me up!! hahaha!! I feel like I've moved past the first month and am losing sight of my goal! Yikes! i don't want to do that!

Great, great news!! I am totally upgrading my blog!! Yipee!! I have wanted to do this for SUCH a long time and... because I have had amazing clients and worked very hard I get to!! Here's the deal, I am no longer going to have a website and a blog. The new blog will facilitate everything you ( as a client and reader) will ever need! When the new blog launches, I will also have a e- newsletter sign up so you can keep up on all the latest news, contests and blog posts! How fun is that??

I can't believe how far I have come. I mean, I'm not saying I'm where I've dreamed of being, but I really feel I'm getting somewhere and my hard work is paying off. Nothing can match the feeling of success! I have had the most amazing clients who have got me where I am today and I have them to thank for that! You all ROCK!

So, when can you see this new blog?? SOON! I want to say in about 2 weeks but just to be safe I'll say another month. I will keep all of you updated and let you know whats going on, k?

4 years ago Wednesday, I was driving down a beautiful hill in El Dorado Hills to the Oakland Temple. I was so calm and excited. I had been waiting for this day my whole life. I just didn't know then that I would meet the most fabulous guy EVER! Everyone asked if I was nervous. Why would I be nervous? I am marrying my best friend. He makes me be better, laugh harder and smile bigger. He tells me I'm beautiful. He is my Tay Tay's dada. On February 11th, 2006, I was made whole.

March is Mini Session Month!! This is great for Mother's day that is just around the corner or just a little treat for family and friends. Leave a comment or email me if you'd like to book a session!

Have you ever had goat cheese? I haven't. But what I have had is the most terrible wisconsin accent imaginable while saying "goat cheese" while shooting these two! I don't know exactly how it started or why but I haven't laughed that hard in a really. long. time. Sheesh!

yep. I know.... the computer is still not working and I still don't have any pictures to blog. Boohoo! I am so very sad because I have some great pictures coming!!! We have an appointment with apple on Wednesday to figure out what the heck is wrong with our, did I mention, NEW computer?? We are also bringing the mouse in too. Poor little guy.. it's so sensitive. hahaha! Every time I go to pick it up and move it, it disconnects. Which to say the least make editing and everything else, S-L-O-W!

On a happy note, the new website is almost complete along side it is the new blog!! It really is something, let me tell you. I think its the best design I've come up with yet! I am so excited about it!! I nailed down what kind of brand I wanted to have and what kind of business I wanted, and boom! The ideas started flowing like crazy! I've never really had a solid idea of what I wanted my business to look like, what my photos should say and what kind of clients I wanted to attract until now. A brand is also so much more than a really cool logo, it's how you do business and what you, as a person, represent. I also feel that creating a brand has to be as unique as you are. I see a lot of photogs (did I mention they are fabulous?) doing the same ol' song and dance. I recently read "the fast track photographer" by Dane Sanders. All I have to say is, he is a freaking genius! If you are a photog reading this right now, I highly recommend reading it and follow it to the letter! I am, and so far, it's been an amazing ride.

Dane (the author) talks about finding what is truly unique about yourself. Not what kind of photog you are, but as a person. He says that when you know what that is, then you can create a strong, unique brand and business. I am still going through the process as we speak of finding what I can bring to the table that no else can. Its a hard thing to put your finger on, but I know it exists... I think. hehehe!

I said we have a pipper down!" Well, I wouldn't call it a "pipper" necissarily. Our internet connecction has taken a vacation without telling us! How rude is that?? Actually, I think it has more to do with our new computer... at least that's what Jared says. I'm posting from our little lappy, which gets great reception only there's one problem: I have no pix to post!! Urg!! So... I won't be posting any pics.. Boohoo.

In an effort to make this post a good one I actually planned on sharing a bit about my Tay before posting some radicle new pics. I wanted to share with all my wonderful readers how blessed i am to be a full time mama. I am grateful that my husband can go to work and support us while we ( me and Tay) run around and do very important jobs like, sing ABC's, drink cold milk, take naps ( tay, not me silly!) read books, look out the window ( we would go for walks but he's sick right now and it's raining.. a lot!) play the piano and sing all at the same time. We have very important things to do during the day and I am so glad that I am able to do them with my Tay. Now, you may think these things to be.. borring, mundane, a little cooksy or silly, but in reality, they are so much more than that. I can see in Tay's eyes that he is having a ball and that he is learing and growing. He is so smart and i think he has already passed me up!

The other day we were sitting on the floor in his room just messing around with some toys and he came over to me and looked right at me and smiled and started giggling. Now, my first reaction was, " Yeah, I know. I'm silly looking! I would laugh too!" But then I realized that we were making memories and that no one could replace the time I am spending with him. I am currently setting a schedule for the both of us so we can more fully enjoy our time together and have a peaceful life. One of those things is to have Tay go over to a friends house and play for a few hours while I get some work done. At first, i didn't want to do it, but I realized that, this was the best for both of us. He could go play with some buddies of his and I can have a sense of indivuality and accomplishment ( other than being a mama). I whole heartily believe that women need to get a hobby or be involved in something they were born to do.. and do it!

There are so many women in my life who have taught me that very thing. And, it's great knowing that my family comes first. I made a promise to myself when I decided to go for it and be an official business, that if at any point in time the business started to become more important than my family.. I'd slam the brakes hard and reevaluate the situation.. and fast! So back to Tay..

He has been sick the last few days with a double ear infection and some major congestion. It's funny how much mamas are needed in a time of sickness. And even in the midst of being sick he still copies me when I make a quacking noise with his rubber ducky and push it off the side of the tub. Its the funniest thing. He say's, " baf" whenever he looks in the bathroom. he's so cute.

Anyway, this is an insanely long post and I am getting so tired... Thanks for reading and hug your little ones every chance you get.. even if their bigger than you. :)

A little sunshine...

thats all I needed really. The last couple of weeks have been crazy and I SO needed to get back into the groove, but how could I do that when it's yucky outside?? And then, lo and behold I woke up Wednesday morning and there it was! Mr. sunshine and boy was I glad to see him!! So, what did I do about this? I packed my family up and went on an adventure of course!! It was such a perfect day and I'm so glad we were able to get out and breathe some warm-ish air.

We headed out to Knights Fairy Park. I did a family shoot there and I knew Jared and Tay would love it! My guess was right, they did.. especially Tay. We walked around letting tay do whatever he felt like doing. He hung around the bathrooms for a while and we decided that of all the wonderful places to explore, that was NOT one of them! haha! So, we headed to the covered bridge which is beautiful! My "sources" say that this is the biggest covered bridge west of the Mississippi. Do you remember when you first learned to spell Mississippi? I thought I was the coolest kid around.. sorry, random memory! :)

Anywho, here are a few from the day and from yesterday. Oh, and you might notice Tay got his hairs cut... A LOT!! He looks like a little man now. Boo!

Hey. What do you think about resolutions? Come on, you can tell me. Do you like them? Why? I particularly am on the fence, especially this year. I like setting goals. It makes me feel for a brief second that I am actually going to accomplish something. On the other hand, I hate setting goals because I'm afraid that even though I have made the effort to make an organized list of ALL the things I want to accomplish this year, very little will show for it in the end. You feel me?

I had a similar conversation with Jared the other night. Of course, that conversation was drenched in tears and snot.. not pretty people. not pretty. I talked to him about how I wanted to be more interesting, more colorful and be able to talk to people about more than just how the weather was, how big Tay is getting and how awesome my husband is at his career. Not that any of that isn't intriguing, but can I hear a woot woot for repetition?

Sorry for the rant. I swear I'm getting to my point. A very good one I might add. :) I am a creature of bad habits. Not yucky ones like smoking or anything. But more along the lines of self criticism, doubt and laziness. I am also 25 years old... I feel like I am going through my second phase of adolescence. What the crap people?? I thought that only happened once! LOL!!

So, in an effort to go through this awkward stage (again) with minimal damage, I am forcing myself to act my age, suck it up and be a real WOMAN! No more excuses. No more waiting around for something awesome to happen. I'm getting my hands dirty people.. and I'm not afraid to do it! Like Dwight so bravely states, " I don not fear the unknown! I will meet my challenges head on. I will laugh in the faces of those who doubt me!" I love that show... hehehe.

I made a TOP 20 LIST for 2010.... so here it goes...

1. Go to the Temple every month.
2. Get finances organized.
3. Have Family Home Evening, family prayer and scripture study regularly.
4. Go on dates every week! This is a hard one right now :(
5. Play more. ( i.e. hiking, biking, parties with friends, dinner with friends, etc.)
6. Lose that last blasted 30 LBS!! Sheesh.. it's been long enough!!
7. Be a more connected friend and family member.
8. Make business more defined and noticed.
9. Reach goal for new camera and lens.. and other equipment.
10. Save x amount of dollars for the year for down payment
11. Build confidence by creating healthy habits, serving others, depending on the Lord through prayer and fasting.
12. Get family ORGANIZED!! (i.e. family council, traditions)
13. Do 10 weddings and 2 portrait shoots a week.
14. Build a custom brand that reflects my strengths and passions.
15.Be more presentable. Yup, that's right.. I need to go shopping badly! And a hair cut might be nice too. hehe.
16. Challenge myself to be more diligent, creative with time and talent and confident.
17. Develop my own personal style.
18. Send birthday cards... sorry everyone! If you want one, leave a comment with your birthday!
19. Decorate this blasted house!
20. Complete this entire list by December 25th 2010!

Hawaii : Day 1 & 2

Aloha from Hawaii!! I LOVE Hawaii. I.just.love. it! It's humid ( which i like) everything is colorful ( which I also like) thee water is warm-ish ( which I really, really like) Umm.. this place is so awesome!

So few things.. this post is really going to suck because I'm trying to be descriptive and make thiis post was AWESOME and try to convey oh amazing this place is... but it's going on 1 am and I am still suffering from jet lag.. so sorry about that. Another thing... the internet sucks here, so I didn't upload the images to flikr to make them big... so these are going to be wayyyyyy small. But the pictures are lovely and I love every one of them.

Alex and Mike : Hawaii

Hey! How are ya? That's my favorite line in the movie "Sahara". just a random piece of info. Ha! So, I went out today with friends Alex and Mike. They are the greatest people. Fun, stylish and so good looking. Everything I'm not.. Ha! Just kidding!! I'm fun! hehehe! Since I purchased some new lighting goodies, I asked if Alex would be willing to be my model. And as always. she was ready and jet set with ideas. We were on a bit of a time crunch, but we were able to pull off some amazing pics! And Mike, well. you're awesome! We deemed him out "texture boy". this location that we went to was majorly run down and honestly.. WAY SMELLY! But, that didn't stop us or Mike's persistance to constantly throw in ( literally) some brick or pine cones for texture. He was actually trying to break some of the windows.. he is so silly that kid. But, this isn't even a full post! I will be posting the full post after the new year.

AND... I will be out of town in HAWAII!!!! I'm going to celebrate my pookum's graduation at BYU!! I am so proud of her and this HUGE accomplishment! I will be periodically posting pictures from my trip.. and maybe have a contest when I get back! So, stay tuned!!

Last night we had a birthday party for my sweet and wiggly niece. She turned the big 1, so we had to celebrate! She is 1 of 2 girls in our family ... but she remains a princess none the less. She knows how to take care of herself when her big brother or big cousin come and ransack what she is playing with. If I were to translate what Ariana had to say about herself, I think she would say this..

Sometimes I can't sleep

Tonight is a windy night and I can't sleep. I feel like my mind is outside with the blowing leaves and noisy wind chimes. I feel chaotic and nervous and yet at the same time inspired and hopeful.

I have been feeling like this for a while. I am so ready to move on. I want the next chapter to appear. When will it come? How will I get there? What will it feel like?

Learning so much and yet hitting a road block when I try new things is getting difficult and quit tiresome. Is it because I'm stubborn and want what I can't have? Or am I placing that barrier before myself, thinking I can't get better? Am I putting a lid on my potential just because I don't have what they have? Am I ungrateful? I think so.

I want so badly to be great! Not just good, but greater than good! I want to not worry but enjoy this journey I'm on.

I have been thinking about when Jared and I are rich and famous ( ha!) I always say," when we are rich and famous, I want to be able to help people. To do great things." I have come to a realization that I don't need to be rich or famous to do great things or to help people. I can do that already, with what blessings and opportunities i have. The thing is, the great people in this world (not celebrities or famous rich people) did great things when they were poor or less fortunate than other people. Thats what makes them so great, right? They learned to give before they had the "means". They sacrificed so that others might benefit.

So, why then am I so ungrateful and think I am the exception to the rule, or even the most destitute? I'm not(destitute that is).

The weird thing is, I know better. I've been taught, if you don't like your situation, change your attitude. Attitude is the only thing that can change you circumstance. If you visualize good things happening to you, they will come because you are always looking for it.

I have so many things to be grateful for, yet feel so deprived. Does that make sense?

The Johnson Family

Lyndsey and I have known each other since.. umm... forever! We went to church together, played together, the whole bit! Fast forward a few years( ok, a lot!) and next thing you know, Lyndsey is getting married. Ends up her husband and my husband went to the same place on their mission and speak a funky language called tagalog. Oh yeah, and their names are both JARED!!!! Crazy, I know. We got together yesterday to take some photos of Kylee and the fam, including nana! Lyndsey teaches dance and has been dancing circles around us for a long time. We shot some special shots at the end that I think are the coolest! Enjoy!

I am in love with this combination of photos. She has such a cute little smile, enjoying the fall weather. Her shoes are too cute!

Just before "nana" showed up Kylee took a small spill and was pretty shaken up. You can just see what she would say if she could speak... "Nana! You'd never believe the kind of day I had!"

I am so happy I was able to shoot the Johnsons yesterday! I had so much fun and it was good catching up! I hope these will be a treasure for years to come!

Finally!! Micah has been waiting for this post for a while.. sorry! But, it was well worth the wait. A few weeks ago Micah, Jared, Tay and I went out to Folsom to take some pics of Micah. A few months ago I was looking for some models to update my website and Micah gladly volunteered! We went to the Folsom Power House.. which was AWESOME!! It was old, completely empty and so much fun!

Yesterday we went to my home away from home... TARGET!! I love that place! I have so many fond memories from target it just makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside! I spent some of the most wonderful and craziest times with my two best friends at target having shopping cart races at 11 o'clock at night or going around taking pictures of each other with colanders on our heads. Great fun. Great fun. Well, to add to my collection of great memories we bought Tay his first pair of chucks and it was so great! I was really excited.. I don't really know why, but I was! Tay's first pair of REAL SHOES! Thats a mile stone people! Enjoy!

Hey ya'll! How is everyone's fall going so far? I'm freezing and I can't seem to get warm. I'm worried because as I am losing weight and it getting colder I think I'll turn into an ice cube! At least Jared and Tay haven't noticed the cold... BOYS!

So, I am really excited because I've been working on revamping my blog and website.. they're cool and all but I have been doing a lot of "soul searching" for RA and I've finally found the right branding, style, logo and "feel" I want to send out. It's really cool! I've been reading a lot lately on the power of advertising and branding. I realized how powerful it really is when Jared and I were driving to sacramento and we started to talk about Corona brand beer. There is a HUGE billboard when you come into Sacramento on the 99 and we always say, " yup. that's me right there.. on a warm beach!" WE DON'T DRINK.... but we were saying that if we did drink, we would probably drink Corona beer because the image they advertise is fresh and chill. Everyone wants to sit on a warm beach in their swim suit relaxing, right? I do! Right now!! But it hit me, for a person who will never drink EVER to say if I did, I'd drink that beer is powerful, and kinda scary actually. Those people know exactly what they are doing! So, that conversation led into what I wanted RA to portray and what kind of people that would attract. The tag line for RA is Fresh. Modern. Yours. How the heck do you portray that?? Well, I figured it out and ya'll are going to LOVE it!!

Jared is my tech man and although I've been trying to convince him to quit his job and become a photog with me, he still works so hard for me and always has great ideas! In an attempt to convince him one last time he turned to me and said, " why don't you come and work with me on BMWs?" I said, NO WAY!! I'd suck at it!!" He smiled, Laughed and said, "See, now you understand." So, that was that... I'm still flying solo.. boo! Anyway, it should be up in a few more weeks.. I'll post when it gets closer so you won't go crazy! YAY!! Until then....

Wow this shoot was so much fun! Other than a wedding, I think this is the biggest group I've ever shot! 8 people!! HELLO! You would probably think that it would be really stressful trying to get 8 people looking in the same direction and saying "cheese" all at the same time, right? If you did... you would be wrong. This group of " 8 crazy people" was just the opposite.

I've known the Davis family (well some of them... the others weren't born yet) since I was about 12. That a long time! So I guess I have that to thank for the chill atmosphere we had. Ruth (mom) is the greatest! She always leaves comments on my blog and keeps me going when I don't feel like I'm much of a photographer. So.. go Ruth! She also has a blog that she fills with pictures of her family and the fun they have together! I am so thankful to have these 8 crazy people in my life and I am so excited to hear what they have to say about their pictures!

YAY! YAY! YAY! I'm back and it feels so good to get some stuff on this dusty blog! Sheesh people! Thanks for hang'n in there and being awesome people you are! So, as some of you know a lot of craziness has gone on in my life. I am so gald and blessed to say that everything has gone so smoothly.( except having no internet for an eternity!!) I heart you!! I do! I haven't blogged in a while and I feel terrible about it. Since my family has moved we have been "stealing" internet from our neighbors because we are waiting for our wireless thingy to come in the mail. Verizon is doing a pretty bad job about this whole situation, but thankfully, I can say we are going to have our OWN internet by next week!! YIPEE!!

Ok, so I guess we're going B&W today! When I was editing these fantastic photos, everything just looked better in B&W.What can I say.. I'm a sucker for B&W!

Jose and Lauren are the funniest and most down to earth people I've met! They have so much respect for one another and have a blast too! They are getting married next week, July 31st, and I can't wait for their awesome day!

We headed to San Fransisco City Hall last week to pick up their marriage license and had so much fun with the beauty and architecture there. We just couldn't believe our eyes!! ( and ears! ha ha ha!)

Hey ya'll! I just wanted to update you on some things.... first, we are FINALLY moving tomorrow!!!!! We found a cute little duplex in Ripon cali that meets out needs to save some major dough. So we are very excited about that. Second, because we are moving we are canceling our subscription to comcast( we are sooo getting riped off!!) so.. you know what that means.. no internet for at least a week. I seriously don't know how I'm going to live!!! If you have any questions you can still call me!! You can go to my website for all that info. I've been getting some great feed back about my new website. It's not up yet... but I've been talking about doing a new design( i.e. bigger pics and new music.) I was such in a rush last time I didn't really think things over. So now, I have a new slate and I REALLY love this design and layout. The photos are bigger, the photos are updated, there's new music and NEW PRICES!!! Just to let ya'll know... I've lowered my prices. YES! That's right.. LOWERED them!!! They can be used in a number of ways such as senior graduation announcements, birth announcements, family holiday cards. I loved EVERYTHING about this shoot... and I mean everything!!!! On Wednesday, I drove out to Santa Rosa( my birthplace) and took a two day getaway with my BFF Emily ( aka pookums) Emily is back from BYU Hawaii, yes, I said Hawaii.. thus the sweet tan she has in these! I called her up and said I needed a break and I really wanted to shoot her and her sweet tan..so we did! I just have to say, and Emily is going to kill me for saying this, but she really is a FOXY babe!! Also, we have the honor of having Hannah do all the make up!! She is going to the Paul Michell school in Provo Utah this summer. Let me say.. this girl is AWESOME!!! After we did the shoot, we sat around watching "so you think you can dance" and " Wipeout" while talking about or long term plans of opening up a wedding planning/ vender business. Emily would be the planner( she is craaazy organized) Hannah would be the makeup and hair stylist and I would.. well, ya know. It was a wonderful two day vacation and we all had a blast! Thank you girls for being so beautiful and AWESOME!!

There were so many reasons why this shoot was unique, fun, umm.. awesome? Can I go on? This shoot was all of those things and more because Melanie and Allen are so real and chill. I have said this once and I'm going to say it again... I love chill people because we get the BEST photos that way! Their kids, Ms. K and Mr. C ( I do that to keep the kiddies safe!) were absolutely amazing. Ms. K was getting sick and we didn't know.. she spiked a very high fever that night! Amid the "activity level" ;) of the kids, I think we got some stunning images for the Nydegger's home and family! Take a look!

Oh my! This image says sooo many things! First, this was at the tail end of our shoot.. can you tell? Melanie and Allen are saying to themselves "ok. we can sit for a bit! WOOHOO!" J/K! The kids were just so curious and doin' what we all love about them!

This post is well overdue! Let me explain why I loved this wedding. Cora is my aunt Dawn's sister. I loved this wedding because everyone was so friendly and CALM!!! It's not every day you go shoot a wedding and the bride is doing her mother-in-law's hair for the event! Cora was so chill..that told me one thing... this was going to be one awesome wedding!! Nothing makes me happier than when the bride is totally comfortable with herself. I just loved everything about this wedding and I think the photos will reflect that. Enjoy!

Umm.. need I say more? I can't believe this child is MINE!!! Yesterday, I went to check on Tay in his crib and he was just chill'n there singing and bouncing on his mattress. I love my little man. He teaches me so many things. I see my potential in him. One of the reasons why I do what I do is to offer other parents, children, teens and couples alike the opportunity to see their own potential. Photographs say so much about us and if you are like me, I NEED to take and have pictures because I don't write in a journal (even though I know I should). This is my pal Coral. She is graduating. (Tear!) I've known Coral since I was a junior in High School. We had so much fun doing this shoot for a number of reasons. Reason #1 being.. 1. Go to some of the most awesome national parks California has to offer ( which
happen to be in my back yard)

2. Get to my final weight goal of 150!! Jillian Michaels IS my friend! My glutes
think other wise :)

3. Play with my Tay!! He's almost crawling now!

4. Run a half marathon... yes only half.. that's.. 13 miles. no joke.

5. I'll have to agree with Kelly on this... blowing bubbles is on my resume :) ha ha

6. Go to the Monterey Aquarium.. the coolest place EVER.

7. Host a photo workshop.. more on that later

8. Read.. period. I want to read the screwtape letters

9. Learn more about photography.. business.. style..technique..How to be confident
with Me and my work.

10. Buy a house!! We are projecting end of July-ish. Then...

11. Grow my own garden

So I went out with my new shopping buddy Alex. She is super cool and so stylish I can hardly stand it! But that isn't even the good part... she is way easy going and she is sooo nice! We had so much fun even though I would randomly stop the car for a photo op and make her change on the side of the road. :) I can't believe she was ok with that!! Go ALEX!!!

This was the first place we stopped by.. dogs and all, we still stopped. I saw this windmill and about had a heart attack. How perfect is this?

So, do you see something that is new and sooo freak'n awesome!!!?? Other than the beautiful and super talented Traci? Yeah, are you thinking.. she kinda looks like Amanda from January's wedding? You guessed right! That's Amanda's little sis! Sweet awesomeness!!

Ok, let me explain... many of the super talented photogs that I follow ( see "inspirations") use what's called texture on their photos. It gives a photo a more put together "feeling" for lack of a better word. People pay big bucks for professional generated textures. BUT... My "friend" ( ha I wish.. she's not really my friend.. I just idolize her!!) Millie posted a new idea that totally rocked my world! Instead of paying for these textures, you can create them yourself!! Ok, so I think the whole world knows this.. but I didn't! Now I think to myself, "duh! Janea! Hello!!" Other than this crazy surge of new techniques, Traci and I had such a blast together!! Yesterday I was able to go out with my pal Ali and shoot some amazing photos of her. She is a young woman in my ward at church. Let me tell you something, this girl is awesome!! She has so much personality and kindness. She wants to be a photographer when she grows up... just like me! We had all of our plans set and then the rain came... so we went to library at her high school and took some photos there while the rain passed. There are more to come tomorrow.

6 months of Awesome!!

6 months ago Jared and I were happy to bring our son Taylor in the world. On Friday, Tay turned 6 months old. So this blog is dedicated to, of course, my little guy Tay! This photo is when Tay was first born and the nurse was washing him off. I love looking at these because I didn't see Tay until 2 hours after he was born!! I know!! kinda sad. I was having difficulties staying awake and breathing at the same time, so i had to be in recovery until I could "feel" my toes. I am VERY sensative to meds.

Tay at 1 month. He fell asleep with his thumb up his nose. Classic!

2 months. His head is so much bigger than the rest of his head!

3 months. I'm having this one blown up on canvas. Love it!

4 months, hanging with grandpa Pat!

All I have to say is YAY for family pictures!! If you have been following the blog lately, you know about my first attempt to shoot what I am ashamed to say my family pictures. They were lame beyond belief . You know that little funk you get into every now and then? Yeah, I decided to shoot our families pictures on that day. It was no good!! It's different with other people's photos cuz they are relying on YOUR awesomeness. So, we decided to do a reshoot. That was possibly the most awesome idea I've had in weeks!!

So let me set it up for ya'll. I got this $10 remote straight from the huge country of.. drum roll.... CHINA!!! It seriously was the best 10 bucks spent. I set Jared and Tay up ( posing, focusing, leveling the tripod and all that) and with a click of a botton... vuala! A timeless memory made almost effortlessly. Also, for you photographers out there, I started shooting in RAW!! Let me just say.... if you want vivid color, with a little effort, shoot RAW. Enjoy!

Wow! It's been a while! I'm so happy to be back and blogg'n again. Do you like how it looks? I totally do! It was shambles before, but now, it looks great. Things are changing slowly but surely around here at Right Angle and I'm so excited for what's in store.

So lately I've been thinking about things I can do to make myself a better photographer( aside from the lack of needed equipment!!) One of the ideas is trying to take photos everyday. I don't really have to do a photo shoot everyday but a verity of things to keep my joints loose and my mind crisp. I started a few days ago and I've been doing pretty good! When Tay went down for a nap, I sat down to "take a load off" seriously a LOAD!! As I sat in my ee-tailan( that's how we say it around my house) leather chair I looked out the window and saw the most beautiful opprtunity to start my new goal. So enjoy....

Today Tay and I took some photos. I totally stole the idea from my friend Brook ( thanks Brook!!) She had taken V-day pics of her little guy a few days ago and I totally wanted to do the same! I really like this one... all MANUAL!! I usually shoot on Aperture priority but I decided to do it all manual. Pretty cool.I'm trying to play with different lighting situations to get some unique and abstract looking photographs. What do you think?
I've been meaning to take Tay outside, but since my back is out- sort of- I just kept him inside today.. maybe tomorrow.

The night before last we were sitting on the couch being couch potatoes. My back was not feeling very well so Jared was holding Tay most of the time. He started doing the cutest things.. these are definitely going on the wall. I'm not in the pics, but oh well. We are currently picking some pics and turning them into art canvas prints( woohoo!). It's a very cost effective way to make your home look AWESOME and show off to clients what RAP has to offer. Anyway... here are some of my faves.

A few days ago Jared, Tay and I ventured out in wild blue yonder to take some family photos. Believe it or not, our family has never had professional photos taken. I know what you're thinking, hypocrite right? Despite me being a total slacker, I decided to change all that. Unfortunately, I wasn't in the greatest of moods and I'm in the process of losing bunches of poundage. So, this is what my trusty tripod shot. It's really hard to take your own photos with a ten second timer and weeds galore to jump over.

Disclaimer to my viewers.... This is not what YOUR photos will ever look like!!! Crappy mood + self timer + cold baby = sub par photos.

Hey! I am so blessed with so much work! I'm really trying to have a positive attitude right now... you know how it is sometimes :) I wanted to let everyone know that I'm still working some kinks out for my colors and such, as you can tell. Ok, I've been playing a major catch up game and honestly... it kind of sucks. I guess the only thing that I'm excited about is that they are my best photos yet. I am learning something new everyday, but along with that come responsibility to edit and make it look a little better... touch-ups, color corrections... the usual. But in the midst of the 4000 photos to go through, I promised my family to post some pictures of our holidays together. There are more to come, but for now... here are a few photos. Mom.. Hey everyone! It's been a great few weeks of the new year and I can't wait to see what the it has to offer! I want to thank all of you who keep me going and reminding me of my potential by giving me feed back and encouragement! This year is going to be the best ever for Right Angle!! I can feel it!
Also, I wanted to let my brides and grooms, moms and dads.... We got a new computer and I've been transferring all the photos over. In short, I'm working soooo hard to catch up since Christmas and the new year. Thank you for your patience!!

Amanda And Jesse: Wedding Day

Amanda and Jesse... Lets see.. words cannot describe how much fun these two have with each other. Now, keep in mind, I took over 2,000 photos of them yesterday and this is how much fun we all had in a few pictures worth! These are all unedited photos... except for this one up above.

We started out the day at Amanda's parent's home at about 7:30 AM!!! I always take the opportunity to document the bride, and if I can, the groom get ready before the ceremony. I don't know why Amanda needed to "get ready", she looked stunning already! I also was able to get some cool detail shots.

I had so much fun yesterday! Thank you so much guys for allowing me to capture your special day and help you tell your wonderful story!

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've blogged... Umm.. does anyone else feel like this year will not END!! Not that I'm complaining or anything, but I am looking forward to 2009!! This upcoming year holds LOADS of potential for our family. Taylor is on the brink of braking through his gums, talking and walking. Well, maybe im a little optamistic. :) Jared FINALLY gets vacatiion and sick hours for the first time in his whole working career! yay! And as for me, well there are tons of things... I'm getting a business license( um.. wow. Never thought I'd have one of those) My website will be up and running in a few more days, I am learning so any things about photography that I never knew existed and of course, it will be the first WHOLE year of being a real mama.

I am so excited about this coming year because there is so much potential. My business is growing, im buying more equipment (which means my photos can be even more awesome) Im offering more products, and.. well.. I'm getting better at what I do both at home and out in the field. So, I'm stoked for this new year to begin!! Happy New Year Ya'll!

On saturday, I had the honor of shooting Adam and Diana's Wedding! I have never seen two people more in love and have so much fun taking pictures! My family has known the Farleys for a really long time... it was such a privilage to capture their special day. Congrats guys!

Adam is such a sweet guy. The entire night he was constantly gazing at his new bride. He couldn't stop looking at her.

On Wednesday, December 3rd, our family was happy to announce the birth of Ariana Paulsen. She came quick, so I wasn't able to get her at the exact time she was born... but I was close. We are so happy to have her in our lives and she will be such a great addition to our family.

Ok, this girl has got some digits!! Her fingers are, well like mine, and her toes are like her pappi's! She is a Paulsen 100%

Jeremiah's Headshots

I have known Jeremiah since he was born, his sister is my, what we call, my womb-mate. Our moms were prego at the same time. And about a year and a half later, Jeremiah arrived. He is currently going to Brigham Young University as a MDT ( Music, Dance, Theater) major. He is seriously talented and sooo entertaining! Since he got back from his two year mission in panama in october of last year, he was in need of some current headshots for auitions and for the pure sake of the ladies at school. J.k. So, enjoy Jeremiah. Heaven knows he loves an audience.

Dinner Rolls KNEED to Rise!!

I don't know about everyone else, but I had a GREAT THANKSGIVING!! I spent it with my awesome husband and my "bubba" taylor. Also in the mix was my mom, My aunt Darla, Jared ( my brother. Confusing? yeah, I know) Carla, the prego and is about to pop!! And my oh so cute nephew Calvin. We had so much fun making cookies and of course, dinner rolls which didn't turn out the way I wanted them to. This is going to be a ridiculously long post because I took so many pictures and I couldn't leave anything out!! We also had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the "Run to Feed the Hungry" this year with Jared's ( my husband. I feel your pain) brother and dad.

So, lets get started... Isn't he so cute?? I just love him.

Umm.. he was playing dead. Why? No one will know.

But have no fear... He came alive at the last second! Gripping!

Here is my brother Jared... He also is a photographer and a photoshop genius! He always ends up editing my pictures. But as you can see we do not have a real studio yet, but we are very resourceful. That we get from our dad. By no means is this a formal sitting... as you can see by Jared's p.j.'s.

So, I just have to say, I LOVE MY NEPHEW!!! He is the cutest almost 3 year old on this planet! When he was making sugar cookies with grandma, he would call the candy canes cookies "L"s. My mom would say, " or 'J's". and he would whisper repeating, " or 'J's." He is so cute. Did I mention, he's cute... and I LOVE him??

A treat for a job well done! Yummy!

And then there was the run! Actually.. it was more like a... walking.. trying not to get mulled by other people. But what a background, huh?

Funny story. This guy had enough speakers to fill Best Buy on the back of his bike. And with all the speakers a man could dream of, what song would you hear screaming out of them? Could it be " Bringing sexy back?" Oh yes! No joke. It was quite entertaining. The hat especially gave it an extra kick.

Another funny story, but less explicit. This little girl was standing out on her lawn with a sign saying, " GO!" .... thats it. Just " GO!" Might I add I wanted to steal her CRAZY AWESOME socks! She was cute!

I woke up this morning to my window covered in dew, and the freeway outside was barely visible. How cool is that? I also was freezing in my bed with my Tay Tay. He kept me up for a LONG time last night and this morning... but I love him anyway. I sprung out of bed to grab my oober fuzzy socks that my " evil step mother" Kathy got me one christmas, my love child... canon rebel xt, and some lenses to play around with. Oh, and a warm bottle.

Oh, how I love the winter time. I really wanted to go out right then and shoot more, but the little guy was dozing so I took the opprtunity to relax and shoot while I was in bed instead. Hey, you take them any chance you get.

Um, the subject isn't that of the little baby, it is my reaction to his oh so cute musical... toosh. The boy takes no greater joy than in his own bodily functions.

This is a farm house aross the freeway, which did I mention is about 100 yards away from our apartment? Ok, so maybe not 100 yards, maybe 101 yards. No, no. We do not fall asleep to the sound of romantic crickets and frogs out here in the small town of Manteca. No, it is the sweet overwhelming sound of big rigs and wizzing motorcycles that put our sleepy heads to bed. How poetic... and did I mention, LOUD?

I decided to inform everyone who reads this blog that there are a few exciting events coming in the next few weeks and months. First, a few of the girls in young womens ( a program that rocks!! in my church... the LDS church) have completed a project and in return I told them I would give them a photoshoot! So look for those soon! Second, I have THREE weddings soming up FAST and SOON! The first one is December 20th. Our good friend Adam Farley is gettn' hitch so that will be loads of fun!! Also, my mom also is getting married 7 days later. Then on January 9th I have the privlidge of shooting Amanda and Jesse's Wedding!! WOW! Crazyness. Keep watching! Oh and the photo here is me taking a picture of me... which.. is normal,I just don't show them to people . But, I made an exception cuz this shot IS pretty cool! I was on my dad's boat.. with my dad and hub.
